Gottfries Clinic was formed by professor Carl-Gerhard Gottfries and members of his academic research group at the Institute of Clinical Neuroscience, Göteborg University, in 1998.
The aim of Gottfries Clinic is the development of new and efficient medical treatment for the very common illnesses named Fibromyalgia (FM) and Myalgic Encephalomyelitis (ME), also named Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS). Immune dysfunction is considered at the core of their pathogeneses.
The development strategy is focused on direct studies in patients since here the full complexity of the immune system is expressed, and so, the full effects of the treatment as well. Gottfries Clinic has been able to develop and introduce new, unique and efficient treatment principles for FM- and ME/CFS-patients.
